Symposium on Mining Geology of Iraq

(M G Q)   5 – 6 May 2010

Department of Geology, College of Science, Baghdad University with the cooperation of Ministry of Industry and Minerals agreed to postponed the date of the Symposium on Mining Geology of Iraq (M G Q) to 5-6 May 2010 instead of 17-18 March 2010, in order to give enough time for the participate State Companies of the Ministry of Industry for preparing their working papers for the symposium.

 In addition, Ministry of Ecology and some of the Iraqi Governates with their Councils are interested to join the symposium to add their problems concerning with the mines and quarries in Iraq.

Symposium On Mining Geology in Iraq

The geological reservoir of ore (Metalic and non Metalic) is very important for the development of any country . Scientific methods of mining without wasting is essential for economic and environmental purposes.

Iraq is a good reservoir for many ores particularly phosphate, sulphur, kaolin, high grade silica sand, high grade limestone for cement industry and other building materials such aggregates and brick clay .

The investment in Iraq is legally restricted to the Ministry of Industry as documented in its institution . License acquisition for any quarry or mines are restricted to the State Company of Geological Survey and Mining .
